I’m Peter McKelvie and after 30 years in the workforce, I have decided to share some of my thoughts on Best Practice Management. I am a business manager focussed on people management, an accredited executive coach and a trained and experienced facilitator.
I’ve been writing articles for the company intranet for a couple of years now and my colleagues seem to enjoy and value the content. With encouragement from some wonderful colleagues, I decided to take the plunge onto the World Wide Web (that’s what the WWW stands for, for you young folk).
Over the years I have worked in a large range of business disciplines including, sales, customer service, business development, operations, occupational health and safety, quality assurance, transport and logistics management, project management, general management and consulting. But most of all, I have worked with people. All sorts of people from all sorts of places and cultures and with all sorts of personalities, goals and ambitions.
Way back in 1983 I completed a certificate in farm business management and went back to the land as a jackaroo. I joined a large company a few years later, never losing a love for the Australian land, but needing to earn a living. Many years later after many years of corporate life I completed a Masters of Business (Logistics Management). I currently work for Aurecon Pty Ltd, a global multi disciplinary engineering company where I manage Employee Engagement and Work-sharing between ANZ and Asia. I have a particular passion for the growth and development of emerging professionals and I mentor and deliver training regularly as well as coaching from Junior to senior levels.
My articles are a mix of my personal experience and observations as well as regular reading of books and articles relating to people management. I aim to keep them light hearted and I hope my personality flows through them.
I hope you enjoy my blogs and I look forward to reading your comments and sharing discussion with you.
